  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Within my role I complete morning admin tasks such as signing in visitors, welcoming pupils, ordering dinners and completing registers. Through the day I will complete a variety of tasks including filing (whilst following GDPR guidance), taking phone calls, communicating to parents in person, printing and photo copying, creating and completing spreadsheets and much more. A huge aspect of my job role is communication with parents, teachers and other members of the public.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since starting my apprenticeship I have gained new knowledge on how to use different systems including Microsoft Excel, I continue to grow my knowledge as there are many ways that this software can be used. I have also been able to grow my confidence drastically with my communication skills, this was a goal of mine and I feel as if I have been able to achieve this during my time as an apprentice.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my program as I am able to learn the needed skills whilst working, I feel as if this is the best way to learn industry specific skills and skills that I will be able to carry into any future job roles. I have found certain aspects of the job stressful as it is such a fast paced environment however, I do believe that this has allowed me to develop my skills at an equally as quick pace. Overall I enjoy my programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Within my programme I believe that it is well structured by assigning you monthly tasks that can help you focus on a certain aspect of your role and develop your skills, I found this useful, especially at the begging of my apprenticeship, as it gives you guidance on what is expected of you within your role without becoming overwhelming. I enjoy the monthly meetings as I am able to catch up with my tutor and discuss my progress and what I can work on next.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a good amount of support from my employer as I am always offered guidance from others to help me develop and grow as an employee. As well as always being offered time during my work hours to complete any of my apprenticeship work. One thing that I think could be improved it offering one day to half a day a week that I can sit away from the office to complete work uninterrupted.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think my qualification has given me a better understanding of how the organisation runs and why certain thing are done the way they are. By completing this qualification I have been able to develop skills that i may have struggled to develop if I had gone straight into employment and it has given me more confidence in my ability to complete my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As I work within a school there are INSET days that I attend to develop my knowledge of school specific legislation such as safeguarding this helps me to develop academically. On the social side during the Christmas period staff are welcome to join together to plan a staff Christmas event, this gives staff the opportunity to interact with each other out side the work place.
