I have had a variety of roles because each year I would be placed in a different team so that I would get experience from across the organisation. I have helped to improve business processes, delivered presentations, chaired meetings, built networks and delivered projects.
I have learned and developed many skills. Working in a remote and hybrid fashion has helped improve my digital skills. Knowledge from the degree studies is applicable to my job role and has helped me perform better in finance, project management, business analyst, leading people and strategic roles.
I have enjoyed this programme immensely. Moving through different parts of the organisation has helped me to meet lots of new people and try out things I would not have had the opportunity to do otherwise. It has improved my confidence.
The course is well structured, but has plenty of room to adapt to the things I have wanted and asked to do. My annual placements have aligned to topics covered at uni, which has helped make the studying easier as I have real life examples of it.
The course is well supported, meetings with my placement managers, mentors and other HR colleagues within the organisation. I was not the only one on this apprenticeship so have support from other apprentices too. The uni has provided plenty of support both with study and personal skills too.
The CMI grants access to a wealth of documents, articles, videos across a wide variety of topics. They have soft skill resources too like a CV checker, presentation skills practice tool and their code of conduct is mirrored across the degree apprenticeship too.
The degree apprenticeship has given my skills and knowledge that fit within loads of different areas within the organisation. Assignments and coursework have given me practical experience that I apply to my day to day role - like presentation skills. Others have learned from me and my studies too.
Team away days, work socials, volunteering days, charity fundraising, mentoring and making friends all give plenty of ways of getting involved in social activities in and out of work. The degree apprenticeship also gives access to student social groups and activities and network events at uni
Yes
There is so much variety of things to get involved in that there is something for everyone, which can help you find your niche with your career. It is nice to know that the work I do can benefit the wider public and do social good.
Be yourself, let people know what you're passionate about. Work ethic and transferable skills will go a long way.
