Working on client work. Auditing the financial accounts of real clients. Engaging with a variety of teams and having responsibilities over certain areas of the file. Communicating with other teams and clients frequently. Talking in meetings about any issues and problems we have encountered in our testing and work performed.
I have developed my skills in using microsoft programmes, such as excel and word. I have developed my communicating and presentation skills. I have deepened my understanding of technical accounting knowledge, and audit techniques. Finally, I have developed great time management by having to juggle multiple jobs at any one time.
I enjoy knowing I am developing my future career and skills in the real world. I really like the teams I have worked with, I have found the people in the office to be friendly, open and accommodating. I also enjoy the level of responsibility we get to take on.
It is very well organised, and we all know where to be at all times. I find the support from pwc and the university good, including receiving a lot of help when things sometimes go wrong. There are also people who have previously gone through the programme which I find helpful.
We receive a lot of support from pwc. They are always friendly and willing to help. There is a lot of coaching available from people within the office, which helps us develop our skills, confidence and work level. Also, the recruitment team keep in close contact ensuring a smooth placement.
We receive a lot of support. They help us be prepared by knowing what to expect for exams and practical experience. I think this area will become more relevant in future years when I come closer to taking my final exams and hopefully entering the workplace once I graduate and then become chartered
The education and learning we receive is really important for us to be able to perform our roles at our employer. Without the accounting knowledge, and audit knowledge we would not really be able to do our jobs. I find I do use what I learn in my role at pwc.
I believe there are, but I have not really been involved in any of these so cannot comment. However, this is not something that I would usually get involved anyway. The only thing we have are socials, which are evenings out as a team to celebrate our effort and hard work.
Yes
It is big 4 experience which is really valuable in careers within accounting. They provide a good basis of training and development. There is also a lot of young people in the office which helps us feel like we fit in more. Finally, we get a good exposure to clients.
Be open, friendly and confident. Most of your training and knowledge is gained through training on the job, so it is not necessary to have experience in this area/ or have a degree specifically in the area. A good knowledge of computer programmes like excel and word is beneficial as we use them a lot.
