Processing of hours and payroll through time and attendance, checking of salaries, balancing payroll reports and headcounts, ensuring accuracy maintaining and creating new benefits for employees, managing staff. Liaising with directors and other stakeholders to assist with efficiency of my role. Creating and implementing new policies and procedures, Dealing with any staff queries
I have learnt some new additional skills, but I feel I have mainly built on the skills I have to become a more confident payroll manager. This in turn has helped me make better decisions and developing my confidence as a leader in my department and hopefully in turn I will be rewarded with a promotion
I enjoy the programme my tutor is very knowledgable. It's also very good as when I have a query regarding my role but not necessarily covered within the course she is able to find out the answer which also helps me become more confident in the role which I am doing
The programme is really structured. From the start I knew which modules I was covering each month through a calendar system. It has also been very useful to adapt this due to some needs of the business I have been able to delay some modules but then complete more than my allocation on some months
My employer is very supportive and actively encourages all employees to sign up for the apprenticeship schemes. To enable employees to further their skills, knowledge and behaviours in their chosen sector. It's also good that you can add modules from other topics to build experience on those a swell.
My tutor and training provider both offer really good support. Not only do they tutor the set modules but also help with online support and webinars which again furthers my knowledge and career progression. They have assisted with helping get my portfolio set up so that I can add to it each month
The Payroll and Pensions Leadership qualification is definitely helping me in my role. A lot of confidence building and assurance that I can do my role well and within the law but also have the support behind me if I need to ask any questions, I would definitely recommend doing a course
At work sometimes they hold gardening events and some social events like Christmas parties. However I would like to see more of social get togethers to bring the employees together especially with remote working doing some more team building courses would really help people to get to know each other.
Yes
Generally it's a good company to work for. Sometimes the senior team exclude themselves away from the main employee workforce but I think that is the only negative point I would make. You are treated and trusted as a valuable employee and adult. Allowing you to make decisions etc
Be confident about your role. Know what you are talking about and ask plenty of relevant questions. Don't be afraid to ask questions to other employees and the senior team. All of the employees are nice and friendly. They're flexible with their employees and try to look after them within the budget
