  • The overview of my role is to learn how to use different tools and equipment in my job trade and to manufacture components out of different sizes and thicknesses of metals. We have to learn about the different tools and equipment and how to use them in a safe manner so that no one gets seriously injured.

  • I have learnt a new range of skills on new machinery and tools which I have not used before and I have developed existing skills on equipment I have used before.

  • I enjoy the programme because it helps me further my qualifications and experience and the overall job I enjoy doing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The overall structure of the programme and the organisation of the programme is not very good as it is unorganised and not really structured and are behind on coursework which is very stressful.

  • The amount of support I receive from my employer is very good and helps us a lot.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The amount of support we receive from our training provider is very unsatisfactory as the communication between the teachers and training provider are not great at all.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I think helps me perform better in my role as it helps me understand the safety procedures making sure that we don't injure others and ourselves when working on different machinery and using different tools.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As far as I know there aren't any extra-curricular activities from Babcock and there might be some from college but I have not been told about any.

  • Yes

  • The overall programme is very good and the experience and knowledge you receive is very good.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock?
  • Try and make sure that you keep on top of the coursework if you can and whether your training provider is communicating with the teachers and whether it is organised. but I would say you get a great experience and good qualifications.
