I am the first line of financial crime defence for client background checks within UBS Wealth Management. This involves discounting potential negative news and speaking with CA's/FCP if the news is a true hit. I also assist Year 1 apprentice in managing and conducting the prepping of client annual review pack meetings.
Main skilled harnessed is communication. I work in a team of three in the background media screening team and we receive many client alerts which we must sift through and make a judgement/verdict on this financial or reputational negative news. Given the high volumes, we are in constant contact re how to allocate these alerts and how best to manage expectations.
I enjoy the program. This is because the programme offers the chance to get real-life work experience/salary/industry qualifications/full funded degree/networking opportunities and more i.e. a win-win situation. UBS places great emphasis on its apprentices thus making the program extremely appealing.
It is very well structured. We are given a study day every Thursday which allows us to study for university/industry exams. We get given a line manager/pastoral care manager/apprentice buddy 2 years above us and we receive frequent check-ins from all.
I receive a great deal of support from my employer. I am grateful for the continuous and frequent support which helps foster and facilitate a positive and inclusive working environment.
We receive a great deal of support. We are allocated from early on an academic mentor. They are supportive and offers critical advice and guidance on how best to approach our qualification exams and also provide help on managing our personal development.
The qualifications are very useful to the role. From a financial crime perspective, the ethics module is extremely relevant and provides useful support allowing me to incorporate book revision into a more practical realm for on-the-job uses.
Yes, there are many. We frequently have apprentice events at UBS e.g. networking events/events to build and enhance soft skills and more.
