As a final year maintenance technician apprentice my day to day role varies on the types of work being carried out. when production is running my job is to over see the activities and perform maintenance on the robots and machinery when needed. As well as this I perform things such as planned maintenance as well as a range of maintenance checks.
During my apprenticeship I have learnt many skills, such as mechanical, electrical and programming skills. Using hand tools to carry out various activities. I have also developed skills in fault finding.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme and what it has offered me. I have developed a large range of skills and have gained industry knowledge in the field.
The programme is very well organised, as an apprentice we are taken through a range of placements throughout the business where we develop skills in each department. These placements are followed by meeting with management giving feedback so we can later build on the skills we have learnt.
The employer does a great job in ensuring as an apprentice I get the correct support. During the apprenticeship we are always aware of who to go to for this support. Everyone within the business is very good at offering this.
When working towards my Qualifications my training provider ensures I have the correct resources to get the most out of learning. If at any point I need further support this is always on hand also.
The qualifications I have gained throughout my apprenticeship are very useful when allowing me to perform better within my job role as maintenance. Units covered within the qualifications all have direct relations to daily working activities that I carry out.
Work offers a wide selection of activities, as part of the first year of my apprenticeship we had a trip known as SKERN lodge, this allowed me to network and build a team environment within the apprentice network. I was also able to take part in an Apprentice event at another Factory. this also allowed me to network with other associates.
