I am based within the Business Planning & Analysis team. There are multiple categories within Nestle and I support the Confectionary category. I refresh reports, analyse the weekly/monthly figures and also help input figures into monthly P&L's. I co-operate with the sales team aswell as other categories to get the official figures at the end of each month.
I have learnt numerous new skills as i come from a non-finance background so everyday is a school day. My excel skills have improved massively through learning about pivot tables and keyboard shortcuts. My financial knowledge has also improved a vast amount also. This is helped by my studies that are incorporated into the apprenticeship.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as I am designated one day a week to focus on my studies which allows me to leave the work mindset and focus on studying, revising and preparing for my exams that I have to take.I also enjoy working with the biggest brands in the world such as KitKat and seeing how worldwide organisations operate.
The apprenticeship is very organised. I have a Nestle 'Champ' who helps guide you through your apprenticeship who I have monthly calls with. I also have a Talent Coach who is Employed by Kaplan who are my training provider who help to book me onto courses and help organise my studies.
As previously mentioned I have a person within Nestle who I have monthly calls with to make sure I am staying on track with my studies aswell as enjoying my role and making the necessary progress needed to help better myself. I also have a manager who I have weekly catch ups with who is more work based who helps me within my work role and keeps challenging me to further my progress within my work role.
I receive enough support from my training provider as they help keep me on track as they help keep me on track and not fall behind with creating my portfolio and creating the correct resources that are needed for my EPA (End Point Assessment) which is needed to complete my apprenticeship.
I believe that it helps increase my knowledge of finance as it covers 4 different topics within finance. Through my training provider I have to provide a learning journal that helps me keep track on my activity throughout the apprenticeship. This helps me reminice on what I have done and see the progress I have made and also what I have accomplished throughout the 2 years.
There are numerous groups that are available at Nestle. There are Academy groups that host social networking events monthly that allows young people who are just starting employment to speak with others who are in the same boat to make them feel comfortable. There is also a group that is named 'This is Me' that help support minority groups to help make them feel accepted in the workplace and have an open space to share experiences and create connections.
Yes
I feel like it is a very welcoming employer with constant progression and a real drive to help people progress and become better employees that will result in a happy workplace and a real community within the workplace. They are also aware of the size of the business and have realised they can help with the environment and really try to make the world a cleaner and better place for future generations.
Be confident within yourself and your abilities and if successful there is a reason that you have been picked so embrace the confidence that has been bestowed within you and really try and make a difference within your role. The application process is quite long but stay persistent and keep going as the reward is worth it once you are successful.
