  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is a sales administrator, previously moved from the purchasing department. I am responsible for working with sales managers and representatives to get orders raised, ensure customers are getting their deliveries and generally answering enquiries. I interact with both customers and other staff members and departments on a regular basis.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt better communication skills, I can now effectively communicate with different people such as customers, other staff members and suppliers. I also have developed a time management skill from using the methods such as Eisenhower matrix to manage my time much more efficiently and be able to prioritise necessary tasks.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I highly enjoy my programme, I enjoy what I am learning about, I enjoy taking the time to study business and administration. I am content with the work load I receive monthly and I am given a perfect amount of time to complete it all. I enjoy the programme as I am never struggling due to their always being help around.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured and organised. Work load is split into modules which I can work through easily. The programme is structured enough for me to see how I am doing, what I need to do, tasks I have pending and tasks I have already completed. Meetings are regular and organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve endless amount of support from my employer throughout my time working at USP Steels. If there is anything I need regarding my work load both work and apprenticeship, my employers/management are always there to help. I am supported as they provide me with resources I need to be trained as well as possible.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a high amount of support from my training provider constantly. They are extremely accessible and if I need anything I can get in contact through email or phone. My trainer provider gives me everything I need to work effectively and successfully towards my qualifications. My trainer provider is always ready to help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification gives me a huge insight on the world of work and administration. I am able to use things I learn such as project proposals, Matrixes, charts and excel training to work to the best of my ability. Due to my qualification being business, it gives me an insight on how my business runs.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, at work we have a gym where we can go before or after work to exercise. There are classes at the gym that all staff members can take part in. As a company, we also have many events that employees attend such as award events, charities, and team bonding days out.

  • 9a. Would you recommend USP STEELS to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • This company has supported me throughout my time being there regarding both work and apprenticeship. As there are so many employees who used to be apprentices at work, new apprentices are made to feel welcome and comforted at the company. It is a great place to work at and has a positive working atmosphere. Mental health is also considered at USP and there are wellness facilities in place (gym,sauna)


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to USP STEELS?
  • I would advise people to be confident while applying to this company. Its such a welcoming company and we appreciate staff feeling confident and secure at all times. More advise would be to ensure you have complete dedication and motivation to the work load, apprenticeship work and the office life itself.
