My daily role is to ensure that projects within BAE are running on time and according to plan. i will contact members internal to the business such as engineering and area managers as well as external companies working with the business to ensure they are on time. I have abilities to request things to ensure people can continue to work ontime and work together (Stakeholder management is key). My main responsibilities involve communication between internal and external stakeholders, customer satisfaction as i am driving work back to baseline dates and ensuring problems can be met with solutions.
I have learnt so many new skills from this job. I have improved massively on my ICT from simple things like writing emails to being able to create a full Gantt chart within Microsoft project. Also learnt how to communicate a lot better with different types of people and the communication types which are best to use with different people. I have also developed on my ability to overcome problems/hardship
I really enjoy being part of the programme as you get enough time to fully understand the business before being a full employee without full support but also feel like you are fully part of a team. I find it hard as you have to move around the business and i found a job i enjoy however then have to move away from it. But i have learnt alot and really enjoy the scheme and meeting everyone in uni/placements.
Very well we have one university day and the rest of the time we are in placement with time to undertake stretch activities to ensure we get even more experience within the business. We get a good amount of support and have multiple lines of contact to ensure any issues can be dealt with properly. Only downside for me is that as it is a busy business people can be hard to get hold of and it can mean you are sitting on a problem for a long time.
Lots of support - various lines of contact from line manager, placement manager, point of contact, support in early careers (such as functional lead, development lead and and any member of the early careers team) also with other apprentices on the same course we have speakers to tell us what thy have done and support and workshops to help with more understanding.
The university of cumbia are willing to help you and offer support when there is any issues with our degree. However the sessions do lack quality and information needed to succeed within the course - having no permanent mentor within the university and swaping and changing tutors every 6 weeks you do not know who to go to for support and help. Definitely improvement needed.
i think it my training really helps me be better within my role. we learn project management techniques which then help me in my placement and throughout the business, for example we learnt about microsoft project at university and i then took them skills back to my placement and i used them for a project i was working on and showed some members of my team how to work the project application
Yes lots! we have stretch and it is really good for things like open days for BAE, being mentors for the new starters within the business, going to careers fairs, going into schools to help them, charirty events such as riding a bike to raise money, clubs are organised - it is a massive rang of things to be involved in
Yes
It is an amazing place to work, you get full support throughout your learning journey and they can not do enough for you to help and ensure you reach your full potential, you can get involved with things you wouldnt usually and be in a top working environment whilst doing a job you love and being paid to get a degree.
Be yourself. They do not expect or want the perfect person they want someone who is willing to help and work hard whilst also being social and getting stuck in to all elements of the business and ensuring they have a healthy work balence life and are not overworked. overall the university is great too and you are in a job for life.
