  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a project management apprentice we complete 12 month placements around the business to gain an insight of all of the different roles/teams and opportunities available. In my current placement, my day-to-day roles consist of attending meetings for updates and progress, updating action tracker to make sure work can get done on time and completing stretch activities around the business such as helping out and organising events and going into schools to raise an awareness of engineering and BAE as well as delivering STEM activities.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far in my apprenticeship I have developed skills I already had as well as learning many new ones. For instance, I have developed my stakeholder management skills through completing day-to-day tasks and also my control of projects in terms of time, cost and quality through completing work to a deadline and standard.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Our employers are very supportive. Our line manager and skills coaches are very approachable and so we can always get in contact with them to raise any concerns or questions that we have in which they are very helpful. Our placement managers are also very supportive and are willing to help us in any way that they can.

  • Lots of support - provide drop in sessions prior to assignment deadlines as well as answering our emails outside of uni days.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it helps a lot. For instance, it helps understand meetings a lot better when people are talking about processes and information that they would not have the chance to talk you through.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are lots of activities to get involved in. For example, there are social activities that get planned maybe once a month to meet up with your team outside of work. There are professional networking events which take place such as lots of different training courses which give you the chance to network as well as learn and there are also some sports teams that apprentices organise that everyone is welcome to join.
