Within my role as a PM Apprentice, I have the chance to spend a 12 month period within different areas of the business. I engage in stakeholder meetings and communications to discuss processes used within my Team and BAE and the ways they can be improved.
I have developed my personal skills and behaviours such as leadership, teamwork and communication. As well as this, i have also had the chance to develop my knowledge and IT skills within modules i have completed at University, e.g. Microsoft Project and the importance of Stakeholder Management.
Currently I am enjoying my programme very much! I feel apart of a team within my placement and am now becoming trusted to carry out and complete my own projects. I also enjoy the University side of my programme even though at times it can be challenging.
My programme is extremely organised. We have a set university day and engage in regular catch up reviews with our Skills Coaches which are organised weeks in advance to ensure availability.
I receive lots of support from my employer, the message of who to turn to in times of need is consistently communicated to us. There are always opportunities to speak to an individual within Early careers within Reviews or Learning Groups etc. to relay and issues or worries.
We receive good support from our Tutors at the University of Cumbria. They consistently keep in contact with us- particularly leading up to an exam/assignment and highlight all the possible resources available which may help us develop further.
I think the current modules i am being taught at University help me preform and understand information much better within my role. I am now able to incorporate and use the IT Systems i have learnt at university within my placement which opens doors for different tasks i can complete.
There are many STRETCH opportunities and Networking events that are advertised and encouraged.

I would recommend BAE Systems to a friend because they provide experience within a highly respected business while also giving the opportunity to obtain a full degree at their expense. They also have great support systems.
Don't let the fear of not knowing enough stop you from applying, the willingness to learn, achieve and experience the different areas of the business is enough.
