Currently I am a young apprentice learning different types of skills and knowledge to help further my progression as an electrical fitter. Some days I practical others I do theory. By alternating the days like this it helps keeps on top of everything so I wouldn't fall behind at any time
I have learnt a vast majority of different skills over the time i have been here, some are practical some are theory. Some practical skills i have learnt are things such as wiring up a ringmain, lighting, fail safe and much more. Some theory is learning the depths of electrical and understanding about it
I very much enjoy working with BAE as what they do here is exactly what i wanted to do when i left school, you have some days practical where you get to wire some stuff or do some tests and then you have some days learning about it, so you don't get a day where your bored as you are always doing something
The programme us very structured you would have some days practical some days theory, it can even be a 2 week practical course and then a 2 week theory course. Some times you will have a 2 day course where you would be trained on for health and safety or working from heights, so it is all very well structured
My employer is very supportive and likes to help anyone out if they're struggling or need an extra hand etc, as apprentices its very good to see that we will get a lot of support as sometimes we may feel like this is a bit confusing or out of our depths so getting help from out employer helps a lot.
You get a lot of support whilst working towards your qualifications they help you the best they can and will push you to the top, they would help you with the parts you are not fully comfortable with and help just gain confidence over it so that you are flawless
the better the qualification i get the more confident i as an apprentice will feel, an employer would help push you to your limits to get the best out of you so when the time comes and you get your qualifications you would feel more confident if you came out of it with the best you could
They're quite a few things to get involved with at work for example outer bounds which is where we all went on a one week course to the lake district and did fun activity's such as gauge climbing, hiking, camping, rowing ect. There are also open events to participate in to.
Yes
It is a fantastic company to work for the opportunity's you get here is amazing, the skills you learn here are top notch and the best you would get, if you are into engineering then i would defiantly recommend as you wont get better, you also will never get bored here as well as you would make load of friends too.
I would tell them to bring a portfolio to there interview or something they have made engineering based as it shows interest and will wow the interviewers, i would also tell them to not rush things and take your time to answer everything the best and the most logical it can be.
