I am and electrical/electronic apprentice which means that I am being rotated around job role's in related fields while going a HNC in general engineering one day a week.
I have been able to improve my skills in regards to wiring and hand tools. I have also been able to use emerging technology's such as FPGA's.
It is nice to be incorporated into the work place in various areas across the business.
there have been some difficulty's surrounding the organisation of placements and the switch to entirely online learning. the communication regarding what is happening hasn't been very effective but there is still an attempt.
there is plenty of support from the employer especially since the training is entirely in house. there is never a time when it I impossible to receive some help or clarification in regards to a given task.
since the training providers are based in a very distant location the only method of communication is via email or skype combined with there heavy workload it can make it difficult to get support from lecturers outside of the set hour of tutor time each week.
since the training is a HNC in general engineering most of the training is not related to the role that I am performing and it won't be until the electronics unit in year 2.
there are many opportunity's for social events and networking
Yes
overall it is a good program with a wide range of placements giving a good incite to the engineering industry
make sure to keep in contact and take responsibility for your own learning and development.
