Within my current day-to-day role within my placement, I am placed within Bid Management. This requires daily management of stakeholders, including external customers, as well as issuing/chasing individuals actions, producing progress packs, attending team/integration reviews/meetings and dealing with major bids.
I have majorly developed my Knowledge, Behaviour and Skills throughout my placement/work. Leadership has improved hugely for me, as well as collaboration, stakeholder management, Communications management, contract management.
I overall enjoy my programme. The placements I have been given have been very beneficial to me and have developed me hugely to prepare me for the future.
In terms of the programme, I would say that more organisation is required, particularly by early careers within my organisations.
The support we receive is okay, I would say it needs to be improved slightly. Some things can be very last minute and therefore can be stressful when trying to organizes major exams, work, placements, etc.
University of Cumbria is good at supporting, however more on site sessions must be done. It is more beneficial when working on site with the lecturers and peers. The PMQ book was not provided to us also by the University or BAE, therefore I think this is very disadvantageous to us.
I think that the qualifications that I gain through University will hugely help me as the topics link to my placement work within the real working world. This means that I can take my learning from University and apply it in real life situations.
We have STRETCH activities which help develop our Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors further.
Yes
It is a local business which the local community is very proud of and I am proud to work at BAE Systems. The qualifications that you gain through doing an apprenticeship is amazing and the benefits will be huge within the future.
Definitely apply, however the qualification requires a lot of work and extra revision from yourself, however the qualification is worth it!
