I rotate around different placements across the business. I worked within the Early Careers department for 12 months and I am currently working within a Supply Chain team. On a day-to-day basis I support projects by processing purchase order and working on contract placements.
I am developing lots of skills in Project Management, such as stakeholder management, leadership, communication and teamwork. I am also developing specialist skills in IT.
I enjoy my programme most of the time, but sometimes I feel like we could be supported more by both placement and Early Careers to gain the most out of the scheme.
I think the programme is well organised and structured in terms of university work. However, I think the 12 month placement rotations are too long and don't allow me to see as much of the business as I would like to (I will only have 3 placements before exit.)
I receive adequate support from my employer. Sometimes I feel like the Early Careers team could be more present, but if I ever need anything I receive the help.
I receive lots of support from my training provider for my degree.
I think the modules we study at university link well to the work I complete in placement. For example stakeholder management helped me to communicate better with people at work.
Yes there are STRETCH activities offered to us on a regular basis and Early Careers hosts a few events per year where apprentices get together.
Yes
It is really beneficial to work and study at the same time, the rate of pay is very good, there is lots of opportunity for progression in the future and the employer has good benefits such as the shares scheme.
Put lots of research into which area you want to apply for because not every role fits every person. Attend recruitment events to find out more about different areas.
