MY role with in the kitchen is to manage and maintain the safety standards of the kitchen, along with coaching and leading the team to make sure standards are met. i also have to control and manage stock and orders. there are also other responsibility's such as implementing new menus, hitting guest service targets and making sure the business runs smoothly
Through the apprenticeship, one of the big skills i learnt and put focus in was motivating and managing the team effectively. the kitchen can be a very stressful place and learning ways of keeping the team going was a great help. skills such business management also helped a lot in planning for busy days.
Having a clear and laid out plan for learning was nice. learning and progressing on the job rather then just doing theory was in my opinion much better and let me implement skills I learnt quickly. I enjoyed seeing the skills I learnt put in to practice.
very organized and broken down in to sections so easy to learn and made it so you don't get overwhelmed by the work
lots of support as needed.
MY lifetime coach was excellent. he had worked in the industry for a long time and was very understanding and supportive to any problems I had.
Its always good to get a new qualification and doing along side work made it a lot more convenient, and the skills learnt helped me a lot in progressing my career.
Within the business there's a big focus on team building and making sure we all enjoy it there, for example a team party or little things like joking in the WhatsApp group.
