I am currently being trained in a multitude of different ways including improving upon my hand skills, learning how to use different machines that aid me in doing my job more efficiently. My role is mainly working on Sheet Metal and Plate Work, working to tolerances and making different objects to prove my skill.
I have learnt many new skills since starting my new job here as well as developed the already existing hand skills and power tools skills. I have improved my accuracy and my consistency when making anything I am asked to make to any tolerances that have been requested of me.
I have had many jobs before this one and I can confidently say that this one is by far the most enjoyable job that I have had. The trainers are incredibly helpful in helping all of the apprentices reach their full potential. All of my fellow colleagues have been fun to work with.
Everything we do here is completely organised and structured very well, meaning we know what we have to do each week and are well informed if anything does change for any reason well in advanced. Our entire 4 year apprenticeship has been mapped out well and explained to us so that I know what will happen in the beginning stage of my career here.
I receive an incredible amount of support from all of my superiors and instructors here. Whether it is help with the work I am creating I need or just general advice with anything I may need some assistance with. It is not just my instructors that help but also any other instructors around the training centre.
I receive plenty of support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications. It could be assistance with anything I am struggling with academically or when it comes to any tests that I may not think I am ready to take just yet. There is always someway I can be assisted.
I personally think that any and all of the qualifications that I receive while working and learning here help immensely with performing better in my role as it allows me to have a much better and in depth understanding of the job or skill that is attached to that qualification.
There are no extra-curricular activities to get involved in at my work that I am aware of at the current time. I do hope that there will be opportunities to get involved with some extra-curricular activities in the future such as basketball for example. A group activity that brings people that do not know each other together.
Yes
It is, in my opinion the best apprenticeship for anyone young or even older to apply and join with. It gives people the opportunity to be better than they ever thought possible and to achieve things they did not think they would be able to. It also gives younger people the opportunity to grow and be the future of the company.
Always try your hardest at all times, do not be irresponsible, never take for granted the opportunity you have been given if you are lucky enough to be one of the few who do get accepted. Do not think about the money. This place is a long time investment in your future and should never be about making money quick.
