My role as an account manager is to contact business and maintain / build their relationship with Softcat. Due to this I would then get a good idea of their requirements so I can provide the best services Softcat offer to support them. My day-to-day is managing my current customers needs, expectations and requirements. While also reaching out to business that haven't worked with Softcat in a while or at all, to build my relationship with them and position Softcat in a way in which we can supply their needs.
I have learned some new skills such as how to present / demonstrate mine and Softcat's value to a customer within a few sentences to start to build a customers interest within Softcat. I have also learned other sales techniques such as the elevator pitch and the sales cycle of orders. I have also developed some current skills such as social skills through engaging with people in the office. Time management and organisation skills as a sales person needs to get the most of their time out of the day while also being organised when customers reach out with requests.
I enjoy my programme very much. I have grown useful skills which I can use in any office and also developed as a person, becoming more confident. Softcat is a welcoming place that has offered a lot of support to help me grow into the business and to push my skills so I can become the best sales person I can.
The programme is well structured with a plan of what we should be doing in each month of the programme. The programme did change its structure due to Firebrand losing some of its staff due to reason which can't be help. Even with this the current plan was altered quickly and I was made aware of the changes, what I had to do, when I had to do it by. With this Softcat was very supportive, putting in sessions regularly to help us through the programme.
I receive a lot of support from Softcat, there are multiple people in which I can reach out to if I need support such as my apprentice manager, buddy and apprentice organiser. These 3 people are all in place for me to support me and help me develop. But have also helped me adjust to Softcat and helped me plan my Softcat journey.
I receive a lot of support from Firebrand, they have regular drop in sessions to go over current concerns we may have and to also help us with current tasks on our programme. We also have 1-to-1 booked in regularly so we can go over out personal progress and setting a plan for what I should be doing at the moment.
The training provider books in training weeks where we go and have a workshop on sales tactics and techniques we can use. This allows us to perform better within our roles as we learn new tactics which we can try to incorporate into out currents skills to better find leads from customers and build a stronger relationship with them.
At Softcat we have quarter teams nights out where the team I am apart off get to go out and do something we want to do. We also have other actives such as celebrating the birthdate of Softcat and other celebrations such as that. We also have vendors come in every now and again where we can learn about their current offerings and things we can use to better map out accounts and upsell their products.
