As a Junior Management Consulting working as an Application Implementer, I have a good balance between business and technical ability in my role. On a day-to-day basis, I am supporting the Project Manager with PMO activities, including on/offboarding and ensuring Data Security and Privacy (DS&P) policies are being maintained. Thus, I am constantly updating/reviewing documents as this will ensure the project is compliant to the required procedures.
I have learnt how to use the Application Software, which I implement in projects and this has been paramount to my development and growth in IBM. I have completed various training courses, credentials and badges which have been encouraged by my Practice to complete. As a result of this, I am able to develop my technical skills.
I do enjoy my programme very much as I am constantly learning something new everyday! My apprenticeship enables me to learn on and off the job and this has been crucial for my business success thus far. I feel understood and supported by my Foundation Manager and my colleagues, which has resulted in enjoying my apprenticeship.
The L4 Apprenticeship is very well structured and I have monthly reviews with my Foundation Manager and he is able to answer any concerns or queries. Also, in my monthly review we are able to set goals for my work situations and this means I can complete my apprenticeship in a timely manner. There are many courses that have been structured into my apprenticeship that I have been made aware of from the beginning of my apprenticeship and this means that I know when I will be going on a particular course/training.
I recieve alot of support from my employer and my colleagues. As an apprentice there will be courses that are several days long at a time and my Practice is supportive of me attending those courses. This demonstrates how understanding they are and they will always set me up for business success by encouraging me to attend courses and upskill.
When working towards my L4 qualifications, IBM is my employer and my provider, therefore I am fortunate to reiceve alot of support from my Foundation Manager who is always guides me to key information for my apprenticeship such as the documentation where I can locate all learning outcomes to map my work situations in my portfolio.
My qualification through IBM helps me to perform better in my role as I benefit from carrying out YourLearning for my apprenticeship and I can implement this in my role. The learning can be directed towards IBM and this helps me understand how certain models or theories can be implemented in my organisation, which means application of knowledge is easier.
I really enjoy attending Business Resource Group (BRGs) events, such as Foundation Females, Early Professionals - EMBRACE and Foundation Wellbeing. There are many communities to join as an IBMer and this means I am able to develop my network and meet loads of colleagues with similar passions to me or to develop my knowledge as an Ally.
Yes
I would recommend IBM to a friend as the opportunities in IBM are endless. It is so important to feel valued in a company and being an apprentice who just left Sixth Form only last summer, I never feel incompetent to ask a question or to share my opinion. In IBM, everyone is willing to help you and all you got to do is ask for help!
Be true to yourself and show your individuality in all stages of the recruitment process, from the application form to assessment centre. Now, I am not saying don't be a team player as being part of a team is crucial for success in IBM, but ensure you are able to really leave an impact and be memorable. Wishing you all the best and remember, rejection is redirection! You will get where you need to be and everything will fall in place so trust the process.
