  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far, with it being at college, I enjoy it for the most part but I also struggle to put in the work sometimes as it doesn’t come across to me as a professional working environment.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme as a whole is fairly well organised seen as it has so many people in so many different places that higher ups have to manage. My course/programme has been well organised so far as they are constantly updating on canvas and various different other ways too so can’t really go wrong.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received lots of support from employers, whether it be helping mentally without them even noticing or physically helping me be in the right place at the right time, keeping me in the loop. If there are any problems I can go down to the office and they will help me out with whatever I could need.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The college tutors are supportive in getting us to where we need to be to go into the next step of the apprenticeship as they have lots of experience with apprentices going through the same process as I am.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Everyone needs base knowledge in everything within an engineering environment. Getting that through the college system that they put us through really does help even if we can’t quite see how exactly yet.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are stem ambassadors that you can apply for, there are also things to do with lgbt and podcasting to get involved in if it appeals to you. On the whole there are quite a few extra curriculars to do if you feel the need to do so.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a very good scheme to be a part of, there are all different sorts of job roles from business and accounting to steel workers which just shows how broad the business really is. I am proud to work at bae systems and I want all of my friends to be proud of what they do so why wouldn’t I recommend. I can’t recommend it enough.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Be yourself. If you don’t emulate yourself and how you behave they can’t base how you are going to be within the business, if it is the right fit for you. Show the passion that you have for your chosen field, ask questions. Dress smart as first impressions matter a lot to the employer as for the most part it’s the only one they get to judge you off. Most importantly for me, be comfortable even though you are dressing smart, if you wear a shirt that is too tight you will become distracted. If you are comfortable you will feel more confident and be able to give the best impression of yourself that you can.
