we got to speak to a range of solicitors from different background and got to hear the process it took for them to work in the legal sector and well as what is like currently working in the legal sector. we also had a debate which was really interesting an fun because it was about something you wouldn't think lawyers typically talk about in court (are jaffa cakes cakes are biscuits?).
i learnt that i didn't necessarily need to do a law degree to work in the legal sector, i can do any degree that i want and convert it into a law degree. i also learnt through a debate how to find evidence within a document and argue my point forward and also counter argue someone else's point.
really enjoyed my work experience. i think i gained knowledge i didnt know before as well as basic knowledge needed to know if i wanted to work in the legal sector like what different titles actually are what what someone who has that title actually does on a day to day basis. i also learnt about the journey to work in the legal sector in a more clear and detailed way compared to before where i barely knew anything about the process.
very organised, the forage made things a lot easier to navigate what session i was meant to be in and how long it was going to take as well as including documents and that were going to be used during the sessions so that we had everything we needed to know in front of us.
after listening to the Pinsent Masons employees it made me want to work as an employee there also so i will definitetly be looking into the company. the company seemed so comfortable to work in the presenters made it seem like a small community within the work space which is something i hope to have once i work in the future because i think its a very important factor in wanting to go to work and enjoying doing so.
Since i'm still not sure what i want to do still in the future, whether it be law, business etc. this work experience helped me know that i can do any degree and turn it into a law degree if that's still what i desire to do in the future
No i was not paid or reimbursed for this experience.
yes we got to talk to people already working as a qualified solicitor as well as trainees who are still on their way to be qualifies. we also got a chance to talk to other peers/students who were in the work experience also from all over the uk and we got a chance to interact with eachother.
Yes
Pinsent Masons seems like it has a very nice and welcoming community-like environment that will make me not dread going to work.
if you don't wish to go to university, they have apprenticeships available too for you to apply for.
