My role within the company is to work in the logistics side of the production.
I have been able to develop my practical skills, such as using lathes and milling machines as well as using hand tools such as files, hacksaws and using pillar drills.
I enjoy the programme a lot as it allows me to develop hands-on skills as well as understand the theory behind certain engineering processes like hydraulics.
The programme is quite organised as all classes at college are split into blocks and we have plenty of time to complete all assessments needed.
I receive a lot of support from my employer as I get weekly check-ins with my manager as well as recieve email updates about what is happening on-site.
I recieve support from my training provider as my teachers give me access to online research / notes that help me revise for assessments and assignments.
My qualification helps me perform in my role better as it allows me to further understand the processes needed.
As a team building exercise, the company sent all first year apprentices on a trip to Devon to take part in team building activities and get us to work well together and problem solve.
Yes
The company is really great at trying to include you in the plant, even when you are based at college for the first year.
Always be confident if you have any ideas as they could be really good and could actually benefit the company.
