The role consists of 1 year training at James Watt Engineering College, and 3 years of placements, as well as 1 day a week studying for my degree. I have only been in this apprenticeship for 6 months therefore only know the college. The college is an interesting experience and helps to prepare for work at the plant; although it is not the greatest engineering college out there, mainly due to lack of planning, overall it is a good place and helpful.
Yes, I have learned many new skills, mainly in manufacturing engineering, such as using milling machines and lathes. I have also learned a lot from the degree side, everything from coding PLC's and SCADA systems, to PLC boards and amplifier circuits. I have learned a lot of skills and have enjoyed the experience.
I very much enjoy the program. I enjoy learning at the college, and enjoy the few days we are in plant at the moment.
It is a well structured program that I have seen so far.
I have received a lot of support from my employer a feel well supported.
