On a day to day basis I look after the day to day running of the store. Working delivery, serving customers, managing staff, managing resources, communicating with other stores and ensuring all business related changes are implemented to a high standard. Also have to ensure that all Health and Safety requirements are met.
I have learnt a lot of skills relating to managing people and creating a good enviroment to work within. The responsibility of ensure that there are good relationships between all staff members and no conflit. I have also learnt skills to help with customer complaints and whose who have issues.
I enjoyed the programme a lot as it helped to develop skills within the work place. I liked that it was mainly self directed with some webinar classes to help solidify learning. The main project at the end was fun to do as it could be on anything with relevance to the job.
The programme was very well organised with a webinar every month or so, going over what each module would include and new information and techniques that we could be using whilst working. There were checkins with the tutor regularly and there was the option to schedule more if the need arose.
There was a lot of support available if it was needed. The monthly webinars were helpful and there were checkins with the tutors regularly. There was also the ability to contact as and when needed. Members of staff and other managers within the company were also a big help when completing this apprenticeship.
I recieved as much support as I was needed and was always offered more if it was necessary. This was both from the tutors and from the other members of the staff from withing the company. There was also always the option to contact other learners on the course and discuss support needs with them.
The qualification is transferable so it would help if i were to seek a role elsewhere. Further, it shows higher management that I have the ability to do other things on top of the expected work load with good results. It has helped with people skills and people management skills.
There are lots of ways that people can get involved other than the day job. There is the oppurtunity to complete other courses, internal courses, and confrences. At a store level it is up to the staff to arrange things such as meals, or things outside of the work place.
Yes
It is a good work enviroment with many benefits both as a base level and for those who are wanting to progress. There is a lot of encouragement to use these benefits to the best advantage. The staff are also all very helpful and welcoming. Overall it is just a nice place to work.
To be yourself and not to promote yourself as someone you are not. To come in friendly and open to new ideas and hard work. Come prepared to show how you can work well as a team and solo, how you would keep yourself busy and to learn.
