My current role is in supply chain, I look after a 3rd party supplier. On a day to day basis I will be working on moving the status of codes ready for production as well as following requests from the project manager, raising purchase orders and solving issues that arise.
I have developed my skills on excel, since I know use different spreadsheets every day as well as running reports using these systems. I have also learnt how to manage issues that arise but using contacts within the business to help me and problem solve. People skills are really important to ensure that you are communicating to all stakeholders .
I enjoy the programme because I have great colleagues on the apprentice scheme with me which makes the uni experience even better. The day to day job is good to build knowledge and experience and is something I will definitely take with me into future roles. Everyone at nestle is really friendly and helpful, which makes it more enjoyable !
The organisation of the programme could be improved, I would prefer to have more communication on what we are expecting in future placements/roles. Our uni is brilliant at providing organised lessons and resources, so you always know what to expect and how to prep for the lessons and future assignments.
There is definitely great support there, with Champs, buddies and the Academy all there to support me. You just need to know in what situation do you go to which person. Your manager is also great support. I find the uni support is really good and definitely the best experience I have ever had in eduction.
I always have support from my uni whenever needed. If I send an email I’ll always almost receive a reply that day. Resources and recordings of lessons are always available. The lessons are set out in a way that we are able to use what we have learnt in our day job and future roles. I think this experience is so important for our careers :)
As previously stated, the uni work is relevant to our day jobs. Assignments have to be contextualised with examples, in which we use nestle and other businesses. This is great for building knowledge on the business and competitors. All the theories we learn are applicable to nestle and I’m sure I will use these in my career.
You can do volunteering, there are 2 days a year you can take a volunteering day. This included anything like beach cleans, gardening etc. The Academy and Wildhearts also offer volunteering for young careers, wether this be workshops or careers fairs. I’m sure there is more you can get involved with, but I am yet to find out.
Yes
Nestle have provided me with a great grounding for business in my first 6 months. The experience has built my confidence and knowledge in business, I feel everything I learnt has been so valuable even if I don’t decide to stay with Nestle for my entire careers. It is exactly what I expected when applying for a business management apprenticeship.
In the interview process don’t put pressure on your knowledge of business. I think nestle care more about how you are as a person and your interest in nestle as a business. It is helpful if you’re interested in sustainability, as this is something nestle are focused on.
