Currently learning absolutely loads of new skills from how to extract and manipulate data to visualising the data. Currently learning new development applications to create apps for other employees to use to make their jobs easier, creating these apps to their specifications following a agile methodology with weekly sprints to see how the works getting on.
Developed my skills further with SQL creating complex queries to extract data which is needed. Also developed my Excel further working on my data Visualisation. Currently working in a low code no code environment which is basically a drag a drop system allowing for quick applications to be created at a high level.
I really enjoy this apprenticeship, from the university being away and allowing us to leave our home and experience university as a uni student. Since my cohort being the first analysts taken on by BAE systems we have a fantastic chance to really make our names known and I really enjoy making sure we are well known throughout the company.
The actual university work itself seems like it is not well structured. The assignments, assignment briefs, the lessons and how they mark the assignments doesn't seem to follow how they said they were going to do it. The topics themselves are rather interesting however there hasn't been a practical use within work for what we've learned at university. However within BAE it is much better structured then the university.
The amount of support is outstanding. If help is needed at any point, if someone is struggling someone is always there at both university and BAE. In some of my previously jobs it has been really underwhelming so having this level of support, knowing people are getting the help they need is really heart warming.
As previously stated we do get the help we need from the university, there has only been one case where I've not received help at university however everyone is appointed a skills coach with both uni and BAE and the tutors are always available to help when they're needed.
Currently all of the courses I'm going to learn haven't been completed yet, however up to date there hasn't been anything which can be applied to my work at BAE. There a specialism courses to yet be completed which should better fit my job role within the company.
There are apprentice forums and the 2022 apprentice induction which I've attended / help organise, for extra activities at university I'm applying for the VP role however apart from that there aren't any other activities which I've applied for. However there are loads of extra activities which employees can sign up for.
Yes
It's a fantastic opportunity for everyone and most job roles, once you've secured the job its basically a job for life.
Be confident and honest and help will always be given when needed, even during the application process.
