I am currently on the rotational commercial graduate scheme at Savills, meaning that my role/team changes every 4 months. Typically, my role is focused on supporting surveyors in their day-to-day tasks, managing clients and assisting with report writing. I have been given a good amount of responsibility in the teams I have worked with so far, which has helped boost my confidence in the workplace and allowed me to become better integrated in teams.
I have learnt many new skills since joining Savills. I have learnt the vital skill of time management as a result of being given work from a handful of different members in the team. Additionally, my professional etiquette has improved and I now feel confident speaking to clients and building a rapport with them.
I am really enjoying the programme that I am on. I think that Savills support me well during my time studying my Masters and my team appreciate that I am not contactable on my study day. I also enjoy learning the theory behind my day-to-day job and the university modules have helped me develop my knowledge.
The programme is really well structured. I have received support from both Savills and UCEM and the UCEM hub page are extremely helpful when looking for information and providing updates. I think the programme is well structured in terms of the lectures and webinars however sometimes it can be a lot providing all the updated diaries and skill scans when you are in a particularly busy rotation.
My employer has been supportive throughout. Savills creates an open atmosphere where I feel I can approach anyone in my team if I need help. Additionally, my APC counsellor and mentor have been a great support.
UCEM provide a lot of support. We each have a designated mentor who regularly checks in on us. I particularly feel supported by the mental health advice that UCEM offer. If you are struggling with an assignment, there is always someone you can talk to about a potential extension.
I think my qualification supports my role well. When I was sat in a valuation rotation, I was also completing a valuation module. This helped my confidence in my role and I was able to grasp a better understanding of valuation methods.
I am involved in the CRM group at Savills. Additionally, I try to involve myself in as many social activities as I can and Savills do strive to set up regular professional networking events.

Savills offer a good graduate scheme where there is the opportunity to explore many different pathways of property.
Research the company values and also any particular areas you are interested in. Be chatty and smiley in the assessment centre and make an effort to make everyone feel included.
