  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a supervisor within hospitality. This involves opening and closing the pub and supervising the team to deliver food and beverage to our customers. I have to ensure that I have all the resources available, brief the team, ensure guests are happy, ensure I support my manager to run the pub.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learnt something new on every shift and I have been with the company for a while now. We have a system that we use called Mable and I have kept up to date with my learning on here ensuring that I meet brand and company standards. My apprenticeship covered a lot more than my Mable learning and has helped me develop in my role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I completed my apprenticeship in 2022 and really enjoyed the additional development this offered on top of my internal programme. It stretched me in my role and particularly with regards to the knowledge. I learnt about things such as legislation and leadership styles. It made me look at myself to see if there were areas I could improve upon in my supervisor role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised and structured. There was a clear plan of what I was going to do, when and how. The programme followed a structure so that I could see what knowledge, skills and behaviours I was covering and what I needed to focus on more. The learning coach provided clear feedback on progress and where I was at prior to my end point assessment.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have good support from the company as they are right behind the qualifications and encourage us to do them. I also get a lot of support from my manager who encourages me to undertake my Supervisor qualification. I got the time to see my learning coach whilst at work, my manager ensured me that if there was any support I required with learning new skills or helping me understand the questions better when I did my homework, I would receive it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have lots of support from Lifetime. I could call or email my learning coach at any point and she was on hand to support. There were lots of great resources I could access to help me with my programme and my learning coach signposted me to certain resources outside of this that they knew about which also helped. I also had the opportunity to improve my English and Maths skills as part of my programme.

It has been good for my confidence to become better in my role and this has been commented by my manager.
