My role as a developer is to take customer and other developers’ feedback and make improvements to our site using code. Sometimes this includes talking to the customers, asking for help from co-workers, writing code, reviewing other developers’ code and lots of personal learning to make your future work more efficient.
I have learnt many new skills and new programming languages and improved my communication skills as well as self confidence.
I really enjoy working. I get to expand my knowledge and competency every day, as well as making a difference to our customers’ experience which I really enjoy. University learning can be challenging and extensive though ultimately it is beneficial.
It is fairly well structured, although occasionally the apprenticeship standard falls short on logicality, not at the fault of the university or employer, but it’s something you learn to work with.
I receive a huge deal of support from my employers, who give me time to complete university tasks while at work, and give me suggestions and help with anything I struggle with.
The lecturers offer a lot of support to the university students, as well as providing them with services to help with their university work.
It gives me some new knowledge but mostly just some time to practice my development skills which is very useful in my role.
We have team building events and opportunities to help out with other areas of the company, such as the marketing.
Yes
Because it is an encouraging company that understands the challenges and time that university requires and offers support throughout all areas of the apprenticeship, also giving you time to grow and develop as person, as well as containing an all-round lovely group of people to work with.
Be friendly and have a good work ethic.
