I am in the application support team and work with my colleagues to help and support their work, learning new systems and developing my skills with IT in general. I have live training sessions through Adobe Connect for my apprenticeship where we go through and learn the different aspects of IT and its functions.
I have learned many new skills with a variety of systems, more specific to the workplace I am in, but I have also learned skills, tricks and knowledge of more basic IT and less bespoke IT related roles.
I enjoy the friendliness of my team and their happiness to help and encourage me to develop. I enjoy the live training and try and learn as much as possible in time away from the sessions to further develop my knowledge.
I feel that the programme is less organised than I wish it was, the way it is planned by Intequal could be streamlined and is purposely made complicated to move work onto the apprentice when trying to complete assignments rather than the planner who marks the assessments.
I receive as much support as I need and any further help I am given if I ask. I do not feel like I am lost or stuck at any point and if there is a time where I am unsure on what to do, I can ask my team for support.
My trainer is very supportive and helps considerably when I need it. I do not feel that I get the same support from my planner who is blunt and can be unhelpful at times.
The training provider helps me understand the fundamentals of my role and gives me a lead on how I can improve my knowledge for more bespoke systems and allows me to understand guides that are more technical.
There are a lot of extra-curricular activities, many that I take part in. There are a lot of social events outside of work and work outings to enhance team bonding and moral.
Yes
It is very different to many places I have worked, the managers are understanding and listen when I need them, my colleagues and peers are all friendly and always point you into the right direction and everyone is always happy to help.
To try your best and take the initiative to work and to always ask if you are unsure. No-one will think differently of you for asking and it is better than making a mistake and trying to rectify it afterwards.
