I have been introduced to different sectors in the business and am shown by different engineers how and why they do their jobs. I am shown different processes and sometimes able to do hands-on work.
My confidence has definitely improved, as well as my communication and teamwork. I have become a lot more independent too when I have to solve problems and find the correct people to go to.
My programme allows me to apply my theoretical knowledge to the real-world which is something I find really interesting. It has opened my eyes to how important engineering is globally, to be able to aid with this fills me with joy.
As my intake are one of the first, the structure could have been better, but a lot of feedback has been given to the organisers of the apprenticeship in order for them to be able to improve and smooth out the process.
I receive all the support I need and feel comfortable to ask for help when required.
I receive enough support from my training provider, however some modules I seem to understand better than others. This depends purely on the lecturer, if I do struggle, there is always someone I can go to.
I feel my qualification so far is helping to understand the basics of engineering, and sometimes I recognise these things in the workplace. I find this really interesting as I get to see how things work in a practical environment.
The apprentices sometimes set up social events for us all to get together which is a good opportunity to meet new people and make new friends who share the same interests as you.
