As an Engineer here at BAE Systems, I change placements every 6 months. These placements consist of mostly office work with some shop floor visits occasionally. I help each team with paperwork, designing and attending key meetings with stakeholders.
My communication skills have improved most noticeably, having to talk to many different team members has improved my confidence significantly.
I am really enjoying the role and the opportunity to work in different departments throughout the business.
At first, it took a while to get in the routine of who to contact but after about 6 months, everything was clarified properly.
There are lots of support offered, but it is personal preference whether or not we take advantage of these.
We visit university once a week in Blackpool where we have tutors that can answer any questions we have.
I do not feel that much of the work is linked due to classification within the workplace.
Yes, we have to do 20% of our hours as off the job learning meaning we visit primary schools and do other interesting activities to develop our competencies.

The salary is very competitive for people our age and the opportunities we are given are hard to get elsewhere.
