My role is a leakage technician. I search for leaks in an area on the underground pipes. My role involves a lot of walking so if you like walking this is the role for you. On a day-to-day basis, it’s hard but meaningful work - absolutely amazing opportunity.
The skills I have learnt on the job have increased my stamina and my metal wellbeing. Due to it being outside, I have gained skills in all things to do with leakage using enigmas and more traditional methods like the listening sticks.
Extremely, the fact that I can interact with the public and work outside is exactly what I knew I would love doing. Every day is different. You meet new and interesting people every day and working for Severn Trent as a whole is like one big family. Everyone is nice and respectful to anybody.
Very well. As soon as I started, my whole journey was planned out. I attended college and the lessons were interesting and interactive. It felt like even though there were other people, it was only me on the programme and it was perfectly designed for me.
The way it works in Severn Trent (like I mentioned previously) is that it is like a family, so everybody supports everyone especially my manager, mentor and senior.
I definitely get loads of support from everyone involved in my role as an assistant water network technician.
Extremely well.
There are plenty. As an apprentice, every so often our new talent team will host apprentice events so everyone from all over the continent comes and meets and make friends and has good fun and I can’t wait for the next one. The last one we had we went bowling.
Yes
The real question is why wouldn’t I. The family, the friends, the meaningful work, the benefits, everyone who has ever asked me about Severn Trent I have had no bad word to say so the answer is yes, I will and I have recommended my role to friends and family.
Be yourself here at seven Trent. Don’t try and be anybody. You are not because that’s not what they are looking for. They are looking for good, hard working people with a will to strive and success in Severn Trent. The only way is up so if you are a hard worker and you stay true to yourself, there will be a role for you.
