Shadowing mechanics, helping out where I can, going away to college on block release to learn more about mechanics.
Yes! I have learnt about engines, steering systems, braking systems, how to repair components on vehicles, how to use specialist tools.
I really enjoy the programme because it is not your typical apprenticeship, you are learning all the time and not expected to just sweep up, you are always being asked questions (which is a good thing).
Very well organised, we know when we are in college and in work, we know what is coming up and if we have any meetings we need to attend.
I receive a lot of support, it does not matter what day of the week or time of night, if I have a problem we can always get an answer from someone.
Our college and Babcock always help us out. We are told if we need to catch up on college work. We are always being asked questions and again if we need help they are always there to help.
It works side by side, so what we learn in the workshop we can take to college to enhance our learning but also what we learn in college we can go back to apply it to our daily role.
Yes, we went on a week outward bounds training at the start of the apprenticeship, there are always activities we can attend.
Yes
Top quality training, always learning and huge opportunities after your apprenticeship
Do not be afraid to ask questions, be prepared to put in hard work, what you put in is what you get out.
