  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently a detail designer doing a lot of modelling and drawings.

    8/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Extreme development of team working, presenting, problem solving, planning, time management and my confidence has improved.

    8/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the work I do and the team I am working with which makes life a lot easier.

    8/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • 1st year was fine at college but then Covid hit and messed up our 2nd and 3rd year. Most placements just were not that good, but there were really stand out ones.

    5/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As much support as I need.

    8/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In terms of my development coach, less than what I would like. There used to be a lot of communication, but that has dropped away. It is only really at 12 week reviews that I speak to them.

    5/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Not much, college qualifications are very general and nowhere near specific enough for the role I have. Maybe if I had a different role in the company I would feel different.

    4/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have been to a leadership conference before which was very good.

    6/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Could be biased, but as I said previously I really enjoy what I do. A lot of people hate their jobs so I would count myself lucky to have landed where I have. There are obviously days I do not want to work, but I do like it here.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Understand the different sectors of BAE and what they involve. Learn the different sites and what is done at them. The company values are also important to know.
