I currently work within the research & technology, modelling & simulation team. My role involves supporting the team with the advancement in automated ship design where I work on the automation of system modelling.
I have developed many new skills in my apprenticeship and my current placement and also developed existing skills. In R&T I have been learning how to use softwares such as MATLAB and INVENTOR along with improving my teamwork skills by working daily as part of a team.
I enjoy the aspect of learning new things often and within R&T I have been on many training courses. I mostly enjoy task which involve cooperation within a team and hands on tasks. Due to covid I never got the most out of some placements.
I belive overall the course is well orginised and is set up in a way that maximises experience and learning within the company. In my case on some occiasions there might have been some issues where some placements had no idea they were getting an apprentice.
I recieve all the support I need from my line managers and colleagues and have always felt I can discuss any issues I am having.
When working towards qualification I always had support from my training officer. They were always availabe to help with any questions and reguarly took time to go over sections of the criteria.
I feel my qualification helped me perform better within my role as I could use a lot of what I was learning in my day to day tasks.
During my apprenticship I was aware of a few extra carricular activities such as sports day and bake sales but I felt I could not take the time away from my tasks.
