As a Marketing apprentice, my daily role is to help prep for events, write up award submissions, conduct market research, social media posts, article writing, newsletters and more. I tend to work on a range of projects with a deep focus on sustainability. I have many meetings everyday with various people that work in different portfolios of the company.
Yes, I have learnt a variety of new skills including how to write for a newsletter or website page, how to produce marketing campaigns and drafting social media posts. I have also developed skills like working on Excel spreadsheets, confidence, proofreading submissions, event prep.
The programme with Arup has been amazing, the support they have offered is incredible and the opportunities are never-ending. They give me the time I need to complete my studies, have catchups with my tutors and allow me to have days off in order to attend college. The training provider itself (ACT) were okay.
The training provider did not structure my programme well and halfway through I actually had to change tutors as the original one did not give much support and ended up leaving. This left me with a few months where I did not really know what was going on and did not hear much.
Arup are all for developing skills for their employees so the support has been amazing. From giving me time to complete assignments, take study leave, help with the assignments etc. The support has been never-ending. And now I have the opportunity to move on to my next level. Arup have been fab.,
Not a great deal of support. I expected to be in workshops to learn about the different units but this was not the case. I had an hour catchup with my tutor every month where she would set work, speak about it for a little bit and off I went to answer the questions. This was not great as I am so new to marketing I did not really know a lot, so answering the questions without learning anything first just did not work.
It definitely helped me with some aspects of my job role. Some of the units matched exactly what I was doing everyday. Things like email campaigns etc. It also helped build my confidence in work as I knew background info to some things we would be completing. Overall I would say it has definitely helped.
Yes, I am part of the social committee who organise activities on a monthly basis. Pool tournaments, Skittles tournaments, Comedy nights, Quiz nights.
Yes
Because everyone is so supportive and always smiling. I have met some incredible unique people with different backgrounds. They also provide amazing perks, development opportunities, promotions and so on. The work they do is incredibly interesting and if you have a passion for sustainability and being part of the change the world needs then Arup is the place to be.
Be yourself when it comes to writing a cover letter, the assessment day and interview. Be confident, no one will judge you. Do not give generic answers you think they want, be open and honest. Be prepared to answer questions in detail. Share your passions and what you want to achieve in life.
