Dimensional Engineer College work Main interactions are with other apprentices Not many external communications Not responsible for anyone else other then myself Projects currently include CAD, manufacturing processes and an asset assignment Everyday is revolved around learning and preparing for plant
I have developed knowledge in all subjects that I have done so far this academic year. I have also gained experience and developed my social interaction which is very important in the work place.
There are days that are fairly relaxed and easy going and the social side at the college is fun, although there are plenty of other days that are stressful and/or boring.
Being a Higher Apprentice, I feel like I am necessary to the company and that they are investing a large amount of time and money in to developing me for the future. For this reason I believe I am valued.
Seeing as we are only the third year to have a higher apprenticeship program, there is still a large amount of fine tuning to be done. Training and Induction over ran and we are not as well informed as I would like.
The college provides a large amount of support from tutorials to teachers who would spend their spare time to help you.
My manager is happy to provide extra support if I ask for it, the HR team seems to be a bit disorganized.
I managed to land a nice but expensive flat so a large portion of my paycheck ends up on that although I still have spare cash for myself.
There are always plenty of events happening although our work email is the one that receives these invites and that can only be accessed at plant so we do not get to hear about them.
Yes
Good money, receiving a degree without the debt, work experience.
Make sure to put yourself out there in the first week or two, out of your comfort zone and you really won't regret it.
