My role involves a KYC process to onboard customers. My daily tasks involve emailing clients asking them to send over documents that I require to onboard them. I use a variety of different processes and systems in order to complete KYC. My daily interactions mainly consist of the coverage team (RM and ARM) and the client.
I have definitely learnt new skills. Before I joined, I had no idea what this role would involve as I had come straight from uni doing an economics degree so this was completely different. I have developed my interpersonal skills such as communication skills as I have never been in close contact with high profile clients like this before.
I do enjoy it. The work can be challenging at times, especially when there are urgent cases and can be difficult to balance apprenticeship work with normal work. But there is a lot of support from my manager which helps me manage this and the benefits outweigh the negatives and lots of good things come from successfully completing cases.
The actual work side is highly organised, the Kaplan side was a bit unorganised at the beginning but now that I am a few months in, it has been stable and well structured and a clear structure has been put in place of what is going to happen over the next few months.
They ask how it is going in our monthly check ins and they give you the allocated time aside from work to do the apprenticeship work, however, it is difficult to manage when you get an email pop up as you are doing apprenticeship work and you want to reply back to the client instead of carrying on with what you were doing.
They are helpful in the 6 week and 12 week calls when giving feedback for tasks we have done, but there is not much help on the ICA side and I think we are just kind of left to figure it out for ourselves. Considering that it is one of the important aspects of the apprenticeship, it would be good to have more support on it.
It makes me realise how to apply the things I learn to my role. I did not think it would be as relevant as it actually is, so the things that I learn are helping me to gain personal development which makes me gain confidence as I feel better about the things I do in my role. I have learned things such as writing business emails that make it clearer for clients to understand the requirements I require from them which helps to speed up the process.
Yes, there are many things to get involved in. I am doing volunteering soon and there are opportunities for frequent dinners and night outs with the team. There are some sport things to get involved in too that are up to the company to decide. If you come up with something, they will consider it.
Yes
It is a great company to work for, lots of benefits and good bonuses. Friendly managers that care and I am hopeful for where my career will take me. They are lenient, and will cater to your needs. If you need to work from home certain months, they will take into consideration and will look after you.
I recommend using the key words on the workday website that were in the job description to pass the screening process. If you get through to the assessment centre, during the group exercise make sure to not be overloud over everyone and listen to other people and take their opinions into your own conclusions and just try your best.
