I assess adults in crisis, my role is to prevent unnecessary admissions into hospital. I work within an integrated team who work together to safely support someone at home. This could be accessing care support for a limited period until the person is over their crisis or accessing equipment.
I have developed my communication skills. I am able to have difficult conversations when needed.
I am enjoying the apprenticeship, as I am able to continue working where I love and learn new and exciting skills. I am still being paid my salary so there is no financial burden.
It is not exactly what I expected. Lectures are via PowerPoint and that has taken some getting used to. I can only presume that my expectation of what a lecture would be like has probably come from the American based shows that I watch. The lectures are organised and well structured.
We have regular meetings. We have our own rotations to help support our learning by gaining new skills on other teams.
Support is accessible, but this requires you to be proactive to get it. There is no hand holding to get it.
Having a better understanding of the role. Having suitable training that is based on sociology and understanding human behaviour. Understanding models and theory.
There are always training opportunities available.
Yes
Because they have a commitment to develop their own and I am an example of this. Not only do I work for Bury, I live in Bury.
The opportunities are there if you put the effort in.
