My role is a lab technician for an Asphalt quarry and my job is to test asphalt materials making sure it has the right consistency and bitumen in. Also we test dry materials for moisture content.
Yes, I have learnt a lot.
I really enjoy it as when I first started I did not know anybody else on there. I personally think we have one of the best cohorts, being the first technical cohort to go through the apprenticeship and it is well planned.
I think it is well organised. There is plenty of resourceful things that we can use to make the course as easy and comfortable as possible and there is plenty of members to of staff to be at hand too.
Tarmac as a company is a great company to work for. They are always behind you every step of the way. When it comes to the coursework and workbooks, you have to complete these in work time and not in your own time at home so that is good.
Our training provider is always checking in to see our progress.
I think the qualification will help me perform better as you will have the confidence in what you are trying to achieve.
There are a few lads at the workplace that do 5 a side football as a sport.
Yes
i think it is a great company to work for. I have been here for 9 years now starting off as a plant operator and progressively moving up and outwards to being a trained loading shovel driver.
Just go for it, enjoy what you do. It is a great family to work with. I always got on with everybody and if you were ever struggling or looking to branch out, you are in the right place to find help. There is some very knowledgeable people within the company of Tarmac.
