My role as a business analyst is to work with the business and technical teams to create requirements and solve business problems. I do walkthroughs on those requirements to ensure all the stakeholders are comfortable and fully understand the issue being addressed. I also do live testing to ensure the solution works correctly when it goes live.
Yes, I have developed my communication and leadership skills through presentations and group work as well as emails and calls through work. I have learnt theory skills which are outside of my job role but helpful so that I can understand the more technical side of the business problems we solve.
I very much enjoyed it. The courses were helpful and engaging and the tutors were helpful and very knowledgeable. I enjoyed the web programming courses as it allowed for a creative aspect to be brought in. I enjoyed the portfolio course as well because it allowed me to reflect on what I’ve done both at university and in my job role and how I’ve progressed.
It’s very well organised. The programme is well laid out and fairly structured so you don’t get overwhelmed which too many deadlines at once or too much work. The courses selected are helpful and a good variety of courses also. The structure is well done and easy to follow and I understand what courses are coming up.
I receive a lot of support from my team. My line manager gives me time to work on university when I have deadlines coming up and my team support by taking on some of my work if I get too overwhelmed. It’s a very supportive environment and I would definitely recommend.
I have good support from my skills coach. He is very approachable and friendly and responds to any questions I have. He helps me out with advice and tips on how to make things a bit easier like time management and provides resources I can use for whatever I need help with.
I feel it has helped me massively. It has provided me opportunities to improve my communication and leadership skills as well as providing help to improve my academic skills. Some of the courses relate to my job role also, so it’s very helpful to learn the different methodologies and ways of working.
There are. I haven’t joined any because I don’t have much spare time, but there are plenty of extra curricular activities to join including sports clubs and ways to get involved in the apprenticeship side of the course. There are plenty of opportunities throughout the year to get involved.
Yes
The company is very good, it provides stability and the ability to move around to different job roles within barclays. There is room for progression in whatever you want to do and the environment is very professional and friendly. The teams I have been in, have all been great, providing a lot of support in whatever I choose to do.
Just be yourself on the assessment day. They will give you a role which suits your skills. Make sure you stick out on the day so get involved in the activities to make them notice you. Answer the questions you get asked honestly and professionally. Talk to plenty of people and make those professional connections.
