  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • We rotate through the different design disciplines (content, product, service, user research) taking the opportunity to shadow professionals in the areas. We attend meetings and different training sessions to progress and enhance our design skills throughout the apprenticeship.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt multiple skills since starting the apprenticeship such as: communication, presentation, teamwork, confidence aswell as industry specific skills. Some examples include: facilitating user research sessions, critiquing different designs and suggesting relevant improvements.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme and I am extremely glad I made the decision to join BT.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • This is the first year BT is running the digital UX scheme so it does feel slightly incoherent at times. However, my manager and mentor make it feel a lot more organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my employer. They offer lots of different support and services for employees. BT creates a psychologically safe environment for employees.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive some support from my training provider (MMU) but not as much as I do from my employer.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The more I progress through the course at university, the more it begins to relate to my everyday role and therefore helps me perform better in my role/rotations.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are different social events in the office you can get involved in and also events organised by fellow apprentices.
