  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed lots of new skills. Such as the use of different IT software like Beehive, OCT, etc. My communication skills have massively improved because I have been involved in client meetings as well as meetings with senior members of the firm. My presentation skills and team working skills have also improved as a result.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme to a large extent because it is a good balance of working from home and coming into the office alongside my colleagues to work there instead. This allows me to have a good balance between working independently and gaining experience from colleagues who have a lot more experince than me

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that it is very well organised. We are informed about college training for our ICAEW exams in advance, with reminders coming in too, to make sure we don't miss it. We also receive emails about exams and this is always very clear and well structured. We also do internal courses, where we are given plenty of time in advance.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I would say that I receive a lot of support from my employer. I feel that within my team, I could freely and openly ask any member of the team for help. I have often contacted my colleagues for help, whether it be on clients they work on or not. It is very useful to learn from more experienced colleagues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive good support from the training provider. In my case, this is First Intuition. My last college course was virtual. We had a zoom meeting with or tutor. We covered the content and they made sure everyone was comfortable with it before continuing. They gave us regular homework to ensure we had a good understanding of the course.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Content taught within the exams is applicable to my role within the team. Of course, some modules are more relevant to my role than others but I have found that overall, it has given me a deeper and more thorough understanding of how companies operate in general, as well as through a tax perspective.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, all of the listed examples are available to get involved with. Our team often host social events, as well as a whole office christmas party. We are contacted on a regular basis about openings on particular sports events and things along those lines, handed out on a first come first serve basis.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • EY is a fantastic company. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. There are countless opportunities to get involved with exciting clients and build your own portfolio of clients. There is plenty of room for growth and progression, both career wise, but also on a more personal basis too. I would recommend EY to everybody.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • When first joining EY, do not be scared to speak up with any ideas or queries you may have. As said, everyone is very helpful and willing to offer you support when you need it. Try to learn from older, more experienced colleagues, as their experiences and knowledge is invaluable. This can really help progress your career.
