Actively partake and attend meetings regarding SBWE content as well as Bespoke content. Actively support in the building, analysis and stripping of trial vehicles for MY content as well as supporting in admin side too. Various CAD projects in CATIA are also available to support with the creation of jigs, fixtures and other equipment.
Yes, communication skills have massively improved during my time. Being able to change the tone of voice when talking to colleagues vs talking to senior management is a highly valuable skill in any department within RRMC or indeed any setting. Adaptability and self-motivation have also increased massively due to the ever changing work content each day.
Very much so. The opportunities given to myself through both project and series work has greatly increased by knowledge in both manufacturing as well as other sectors throughout the business. Varied placements throughout the business are on offer throughout the duration of the apprenticeship to provide a greater understanding of the wider business as well as providing key networking contacts.
During my time, it was regarded that the apprentice was to actively seek placements etc. themselves, which in principal is the correct thing to do due to the exposure and willingness it provides to the relevant managers. However, due to leading projects resulted in me not being able to full-fill this as i would have liked due to not wanting to let the project progress drop or fail completely. This however has now been rectified with new apprentice years through a full structured placement programme.
Anytime support is needed, someone, whether it be through managers or colleagues alike, is there to support. A few guys within the department are now doing university courses too which makes it much easier to also discuss university work with them if required. Any questions, asked to anyone will be answered honestly and truthfully.
Although I have not required to call upon it much during my apprenticeship, support from university providers is definitely there. Bi-annual tripartite reviews between myself, my manager and university apprentice adviser allow a clear channel to raise or discuss any topics of concern you have have whilst on the apprenticeship.
As with any qualification, not all subjects will directly affect or impact the working environment. Some however, for example supply chains, logistics and the financial side of things definitely support, and help to gain a valuable insight of the daily activities that occur in departments other than your own every day.
Yes, there are some available however they probably are not as well advertised as they should or could be. As per of the apprenticeship, many opportunities are available to support the scheme for example Green Goblin as well as supporting with plant tours, apprentice assessment centres along with many others.
Yes
I would definitely recommend Rolls Royce. The opportunity presented to expand and learn across the whole business is great. Being given projects to undertake also supports the natural progression of your professional career as well as making an impact to the wider business. Support for work or university content is always available too.
Be yourself but particularly express all hobbies, work experience, and projects you have undertaken and home, school or in a previous job. Although some things may not be directly relatable for your applied job role, still include them as it shows your personal self drive and motivation to take projects to completion.
