As a marketing apprentice, I would edit images and banners that are needed for launches; this is done through an agency or Photoshop. I send these out to all of our e-retailers and upload to Amazon through the help of another agency. For B2B (our brand selling to salons through a website called L Oréal Partner Shop), I would sometimes create resources that will be used (e.g., treatment menus) or displayed (e.g., posters) in salons as I work for a haircare brand within L Oréal. Other miscellaneous parts include creating email briefs and creating brand resources (e.g., product catalogues).
I have developed a range of skills including: Organisational - managing a work calendar full of meetings and trainings, whilst completing your own tasks and, of course, prioritising uni deadlines. Confidence - meeting new people constantly (on your team, agencies, networking with people at L Oréal) Presenting - opportunities to present to the wider team, including general managers Leadership - leading and being responsible for certain projects, managing workloads when your manager is away (my manager and I are a team of 2 so I take on a lot of work when he is away and vice versa).
I really enjoy this programme as it offers a range of opportunities, from meeting people within L Oréal and networking with them, to meeting people in external agencies and creating good relationships with them. Also, the variety of tasks you have is very good for developing your skillset. My team have been very supportive and want me to excel in this role and in future, so I have always been in a positive environment too which makes work very enjoyable.
I believe it is organised well. In terms of work, 4 days a week is feasible with uni being on Fridays. In terms of uni, the term times are different to other universities with our 6 week break being around April/May time, where we are expected to work or do development on the Fridays as we do not have uni.
I receive a lot of support from my employer - we have a range of trainings available from diversity to languages. This helps us with our skills targets throughout the degree apprenticeship. The team are also understanding when we have exams/deadlines so they will help manage our workload with us so that it is all manageable.
As mentioned above, there is a lot of support in terms of training for developing skills, learning new ones, and even developing our knowledge around the company. This helps with our skills list we need to complete for completion of the degree apprenticeship. We can take time out of work to complete these trainings where we have time to do so.
For my marketing role specifically, it has helped me immensely as I do competitor analysis a lot in my role with all of our new launches coming out. I have learnt different techniques through uni to do this successfully. Also, in the marketing module, we learn about KPIs and other things we can apply daily to our roles at L Oréal.
We have a society called Next Gen, which consists of apprentices and interns to unite us at L Oréal. Within this group, we have sports groups, social groups. For sports teams, you can sign up and take part in football or netball weekly. Social groups organise activities for us to do as groups; we have a WhatsApp group chat so people who have newly moved to London also have people to go out with.

I have really enjoyed my time at L Oréal so far - both work wise and university wise. The people there have your best interest at heart and want you to excel. It is a supportive and positive environment to work in whilst completing your degree apprenticeship. Again, the exposure you get to tasks and developing your skills is really ideal for this apprenticeship.
Be passionate and be yourself when applying, interviewing and put yourself out there in the group interview! Try your best and show them what you are capable of - L Oréal are always looking to recruit new people who they see have potential. Be confident and prepare well for the application process.
