My role includes booking transport across Balfour Beatty for all of the different business units, this could include anything from small vans to low loaders carrying rigs. My job also includes speaking with customers and suppliers over the phone and over email to complete jobs, I also do some accounting where I sort invoices.
I have gained lots of skills during my apprenticeship, one of them being communicating over the phone and email with suppliers and customers, before starting the apprenticeship I was very nervous about speaking over the phone. I also believe I have gained more skills in maths because I sort out invoices and look at prices all of the time.
I enjoy the programme I am completing very much, I feel like I have a lot of support from my colleagues and suppliers and I also believe I have had a lot of support from my tutor. The coursework has been set with good deadlines so it was easy to complete to the deadline without stress.
I believe my programme is very well organised, my coursework was set out with good deadlines so I could complete the work to a good standard and at a reasonable time. I also had regular meetings with my tutor to discuss the work and how I was getting on during the apprenticeship.
My employer is very supportive, they allow me to take time out of my day to coursework so I dont have to do it after work, they also allow me to have regular meetings with my tutor. I have a lot of support from my peers because two of them in the team also did apprenticeship.
I receive a lot of support from the training provider, I have regular calls with my tutor where she checks up on me to find out if im happy with the coursework and we also discuss future coursework. My tutor is always available if I need assistance whether its over the phone or over email.
I believe my qualification helps me in my role because within my coursework and also training courses I learn about building relationships with suppliers and knowing my organisation. I also learn about regulations in the workplace and how they link to my role, how I should follow them. I also learned about project management and I used this to my advantage when doing my project for my end point assessment.
I am involved in some different extra-curricular activities, at Raynesway we have a social group that plan activities for all of the staff for example they planned wreath making at Christmas and a trip to Screamfest at Halloween. I have also been to professional networking events whilst on the apprenticeship for example I went to Manchester to an apprenticeship networking event where all the new apprenticeships went to meet each other and do teambuilding activities.
