My role in the social team is predominantly running our social response programme, Sage Connects. I will go through the Sage social channels and look for mentions, hot topics and engage and interact where appropriate to do so. I have other parts of my role, such as writing social copy, uploading/ scheduling social posts and other general day to day tasks.
I have definitely developed my time management and organisational skills whilst being here. Managing my workload, and my apprenticeship studies is something that can be tricky at times, but being an apprentice at Sage means that it is down to me. Having that flexibility is beneficial and being able to complete both my work and my studies on my own schedule to fit what I am doing is a big plus.
I enjoy my programme a lot. It is great to see how broad digital marketing is and getting to learn about and complete topics in all of the different areas. Some of it is less relevant to my role than others, but having the chance to learn about it all is definitely useful.
My programme is structured so that I can work independently through my studies all whilst having the support from my tutor/ different resources there when I need them. It is great to have those resources nearby and it is also great to have the learning zone where I can follow my learning weekly.
My employer is great for support, understanding when there are times that my apprenticeship work will take up more time and allowing me to focus on it and have that time. The early careers team are always on hand to help should we need them, and also having other apprentices in a big group chat is always great to have.
The support is fantastic. I know who to contact and when for different reasons, and I know that if I have any issues they will quickly be resolved. I enjoy having regular catch ups with my tutor to discuss my progress and to talk through anything that I may need help with.
My qualification helps me perform better by giving me understanding as to why things work and how they work. It is great to see from other perspectives than just what I know from my role, and it is insightful to gain additional knowledge away from what I do on a daily basis.
There are many different communities within my company, and they are often enhanced through an internal site called Yammer which encourages you to share what you have been up to. As an apprentice cohort, we try to meet up regularly after work and catch up throughout the day if we are in the office.

The environment here is amazing. As a first job, I could not think of anywhere better to be, from the support in my close and wider team, to all of the people you meet along the way. Everyone is friendly, welcoming and helpful. They want you to succeed and you will be pushed and encouraged to help you grow.
Be yourself, trust in your capabilities and do not be afraid to ask questions. Everyone is friendly and wants you to do well and to succeed, so just embrace what is to come. Nobody expects you to have all of the knowledge right away, so be curious and you will be fine.
