I am currently in a marketing role as an Assistant Brand Manager working alongside the Seasonal team to support on launching new products, creating artworks, working cross functionally to deliver the business objectives. I also support with the monthly budgets and social media content for the Seasonal team across Easter and Christmas.
Yes, I have definitely learnt skills including budgeting, professional communication, presentations, interpersonal skills to talk to cross-functional colleagues. I have learnt a lot about finance and how we work as a business to deliver key objectives and I have learnt how to prioritise certain tasks to ensure we are getting the most out of the projects.
I absolutely love the programme and I am so glad i chose this as my career path. I never wanted to go to university and really struggled to figure out what I wanted to do so to be able to study and work at the same time is amazing for me.
It is a very structured programme in the sense that we go to university to study for a week every 6-8 weeks. We know exactly when we are required to be at university and have set deadlines for our assignments so we are able to manage our time effectively at work.
I receive a lot of support from my line manager and my surrounding team. I am given enough time to manage my university assignments during the month and they are super supportive with anything I need help with especially if I have deadlines coming up or just need the weight taking off my shoulders.
The support varies as we have had multiple work based coaches in the past 3 years. However, the majority of the module tutors are really supportive and are always there to help with assignments. I think once the new module leader settled in we will receive a lot more support.
It definitely aids development especially when it can be directly applied to the day job. For example the sales and marketing module that we completed last year was really beneficial for me because I could apply the theories and concepts I had learnt into my day job and explain it to the team also.
There are many extra curricular activities that we can get involved in and apprenticeship events hosted both by nestle and the university. For example we are doing value creation training this week with other apprentices from Nestle and afterwards we will do an escape room and have a meal together to socialise.
Yes
As I mentioned it is the best decision I made, especially as someone who had no idea what they wanted to do with their career. It gave me the visibility of loads of different functions and find what I am good at or areas for improvement further down the line.
Just be yourself and be completely true to yourself on what you see yourself doing. They are there to help you develop on a personal and professional level so just make sure you show your best side and share what you enjoy doing the most so they can help find your niche.
